My Weekend

Zenkaicon was this weekend, and it was much fun.

Some highlights:
--I bought some fan-art (one piece of Remus Lupin and Sirius Black as teenaged schoolboys, lounging about all winsomely with Sirius' head in Remus' lap, and I know several people who are squeeing over the thought of this right now) (oh yeah, and I also got some fan-art of Dr. Hojo looking scary)
(--Tangent: Dr. Hojo and Gendo Ikari would make a good couple Y / N )

--I also bought the boxed set of the first series of Slayers. I don't think I actually got the chance to watch it all the way through when I borrowed it four years ago.
(--I do remember I got to see the Gourry-In-Drag episode. I don't think I will ever be able to forget it. I think it has to do with the underpants with the pig on the butt.)

--I bought a goodly amount of Pocky too. Mmm, Pocky. Om nom nom.

--Entered a Guitar Hero tournament, in which I promptly got my ass handed to me. Damn you, Foo Fighters!
(--Tangent: Everything I've heard by the Foo Fighters, I've really enjoyed. So why is it that I don't own any Foo Fighters albums? The world may never know.)

--Saw a couple episodes of Ouran High School Host Club, which I think I might need to Netflix. (... I should really finish watching Noir before I start a new series, though.)

--Saw parts of a really, really bad anime from the 70's called Magnos. No, seriously, this is a really awful show. The villains are called the Paleogoths, and their leader is named (I'm not even kidding) "Xerxes Tire-Iron Dada." (He is always referred to by his full name.) In one episode, the Paleogoths hatch a plan to destroy the heroes by making the heroes' giant robot (what? It's anime, of course there's a giant robot) run around really fast chasing them until its feet overheat. At which point... giant wheels spring out of the robot's knees, and our heroes are able to escape. My description of this show cannot do it justice. I might have to make a bigger post in the future about it.
(--I can't decide, though, if Magnos is worse than the really awful anime series about Dracula, in which we see Dracula eating a cheeseburger in an all-night diner, full cape and all.)

--Got to meet up with jenn_girl and puzzld1 for dinner. It was nice to see them, even if it was only for an hour or two. We don't get to see them nearly as often as we'd like.
